Thanks for sharing this idea. Making a GPS “Blast” feature that could conservatively refresh all the locations of employees is something that our customers have begun asking for. Keep sending in those votes so that we know when exactly to build this for you.

    Hi Chris!

Depending on what information needs to be communicated to employees (schedule changes, upcoming job start time), there may already be a notification available in ClockShark. Feel free to check out http://help.clockshark.com/knowledgebase/articles/1133746-using-notifications to see how those notifications suit your needs. :)

Regarding the ability to craft particular messages and send them directly through the app, this is a request that we are hearing more-and-more. I’m sharing this with our development team, and we’ll continue to monitor the votes here for this idea, so we can know when we should add that for you.

If you have any other ideas or suggestions, you can let me know at cliff@clockshark.com. I love to hear how we can improve ClockShark for you.

Thanks for sharing your support for this idea here! As support continues to mount for this idea, our development team will plan how to bring this to you in ClockShark. :)

Reading this idea, and all the comments below, I can see that the consensus is that administrators would like a way to designate an Off/Holiday/PTO day, without having to insert any time for an employee. Currently, in ClockShark there is an available workaround that’s equivalent to the feature being requested.

If you’d like to see how to designate that an employee will be taking (or took) a day off, Morgan from our Customer Success team explains how to do that here: https://soapbox.wistia.com/videos/SkNhqgi9Kc

Feel free to let me know if this video is helpful, or if you have any other suggestions/ideas regarding how we can improve ClockShark for you. I love hearing your ideas.

    I love the idea!!
However, is there a way to make comments that only the admins can see??
(ie: the excuse called in, pre-planned day off, if it was unexcused, or whatever the case may be, etc.).

I do like the idea of "notes" on the time sheet view of why an employee has no hours or low hours for a day, however, I think there should be a back side for “admins only” to view more personalized notes.
Scenario: I'm in the office, my boss is in the field (Construction). There are call-offs almost daily. It would be nice when he looks and sees "Joe" not here, he can look at the admin only "time sheet area" and see a note that says (from me) “7:15 am Joe called and said he didn't have enough gas to make it to work. Or his shoes don't fit today.”
This wouldn't be visible to the employee, or other employees only the admins. Only for record keeping. What usually happens is (our payroll is bi-weekly) Joe sees his paycheck and wants to know where all his money is...this would allow me to easily bring up a sheet on the computer (instead of a bunch of post it notes) and say "remember last Wednesday you didn't work because your hat wasn't dry!"
It would help out tremendously since my boss and I are never at the same place at the same time.
*Disclaimer: Not all call-off excuses are ridiculous, but I'm sure you've all heard your fair share of weird ones too!*

Hey everyone thanks for sharing your feedback and concerns.

We are always working to improve the GPS functionality and close any holes that are being exploited. This is not something that is that easy to do with the way the devices work and the limitations imposed by the Android and iOS operating systems. We do expect that we will keep making improvements and are working on that always. There is also a degree of employee education involved and at times when employees are doing the wrong thing they will need to be talked to. Please feel free to share any additional concerns and we will keep working to deliver the best GPS experience possible.

If the location setting is on, even if the app is closed, the GPS is still running. I kill my apps and I'm still being tracked while clocked in. That's why I love this app, it doesn't stop running until you clock out.
Now, I have had employees phone's die and have had a few take location off while on the clock...this will lead to not knowing where they are. Clock shark clocked the employees out after awhile. I'd call them to confirm what you can do to ensure your employees are using the app correctly. I had to give mine a little "mini session" of things to do and not to do. Hope this helps.

Maybe set up an option for this feature? In construction, we allow a designated person to stay clocked in and go outside of the Fence to run errands. If he/she was clocked out automatically, they would be reduced in hours of working. I, however, do like this as an option!

Hey everyone, thanks for all the votes and comments for this idea!

This idea in particular is a little tricky because it is a big change that can affect lots of aspects across the entire platform. But as we grow we will continue to assess the ways that we can meet the needs of our users.
