View more than a 7 day range ...
I am in the process of doing payroll, and I do not see the option to change the date range of more than just 7 days when looking at Timesheets. I would be nice to have the option of changing the range from more than 7 days (or freedom to choose the date range, other than the span of only 7 days).

Hey everyone thanks for the continued votes and comments!
We just had a recent improvement to our Timesheet approvals and part of this meant an improved date selector on the Timesheets details page. So once you click on a date for an employee you do have a date selector in the upper left you can use to view up to a month at a time. When you are just viewing an employee at a time, it gets a lot easier to display more information.
The Timesheets themselves are still capped at a 7 day range because displaying anymore can really get messy, especially when you have lots of employees. But hopefully the date selector above helps you! Otherwise please keep voting!

Happy to announce the work on this project is underway. Soon each admin and employee with certain manager permissions will be able to set their own notification terms.

offer an option to automatically reset the budget job hours on the first day of each new month. We need to track our client hours monthly.
Offer an option to have budgeted job hours reset automatically on the first day of each month. This allows a company to easily track the budgeted number of monthly hours based on annual retainer contracts set up based on number of hours per month and charge a premium fee for overages.

Hey everyone, just wanted to do a quick update on this idea. It really sounds like separate functionality from what our current labor budget does. Definitely something we can build, just makes more sense to be a separate function.
Our current one is built for the life of the job, not intervals within it. And even if we did reset it you’d have to change it say from 50 hours one month, to 100 hours next, to 150 hours. On top of that it isn’t time based at all.
This might get a little easier with our new Customers feature coming out soon. With this, you can just have a different job for each recurring job you have for a customer. So one for January with budgeted hours, one for February, and so on.
Please let me know of any other ideas and keep voting!

merge duplicated jobs
If there are duplicated jobs, need a way to merge them into one job if time has been entered

Thank you all for supporting this idea with votes and comments.
I definitely think this would be incredibly useful, especially when things are crazy manually merging jobs with a tedious process is the last thing you want to do. We prioritize all suggestions with the most traction and support. With great support, this idea will become one of our upcoming feature releases, so please keep voting!

Budget Report that shows budgeted/scheduled hours vs. hours actually worked
We would like to run reports by certain jobs to show our actual hours spent, verses our budget projects to see where we stand.
61 votesJT Abbott responded
In previous updates, we mentioned that you can see the budgeted hours vs. the actual hours work on the Jobs list page. However, some people wanted their crew leaders to see this information without making them admins.
We do have a new “edit jobs” manager permission which allows employees with this permission to view/edit Jobs just like admins can.
This allows you to assign this power to employees without having to make them a full admin.
We would still like a report of scheduled/budgeted time vs. actual time worked, however. Thanks for the continued support!

Add a default sort option for tasks or jobs.
It would be very handy to set a default sort option for tasks or jobs.
20 votesIf anyone would like to see a different sort option for tasks and jobs in ClockShark, please endorse below with your votes and/or some details for our development team.

Use Local Time Zone
I didn't find any previous articles for this issue. My company is based in Oregon (PST) but has employees across the country. It appears that all time entries are converted to PST. This makes it very confusing when adding brakes, looking at time, etc. I would very much prefer that the punches were recorded in the local time zone.

Photo of Employee
It would be nice to have a photo icon of employees in the system since sometimes it is hard to remember everyone's name.

Allow me to set my work day, say from 7 am to 9 pm and then when clicking on the time
Allow me to set my work day,
say from 7 am to 9 pm and then when clicking on the time, I dont have to scroll from, 12 am to 7am
Make it a user defined default but if I want I can start the clock at 5 am on the odd time that may happen.38 votesJT Abbott responded
This is a great idea and something we definitely want to implement as we continue to improve the scheduler to be even better.
Please keep voting and commenting as the more support this gets the faster it will get built!

Let me arrange employees on shift page
This way I could group people working together. I don't care about alphabetical order.
33 votesJT Abbott responded
This is in need of an update! While you cannot manually change the order of the employees on the page, you can select which individual employees you want to see.
You can also select pre-made groups by using our locations/departments you can view certain people at a time so you don’t have to view everyone.
We also have a PTO/sick time feature that you can enable and have employees request time off, approve time off, and everything shows up automatically on the Timesheets and Schedules!
And to Stu’s point, if shifts have the exact same times listed, then we just list them alphabetically. But if you give shifts times like Job A is 10-12, Job B is 12-2, and Job C is 2-5, then everything displays correctly!

Add option for certified payroll work
We have employees working on several different jobs. Some tasks require certified payroll (Davis-Bacon). Would like ability to include check box for certified payroll--on a task basis.
30 votesJT Abbott responded
Hey everyone, just wanted to provide an update. This is always going to be an option going forward, but at the moment it is a little out of the scope of what we are trying to accomplish here at ClockShark.
We do track all the necessary time information within ClockShark and the CSV Export report includes all the details you need for certified payroll. If anyone is looking for certified payroll, we do have an affiliate relationship with Points North and you can request more information here. https://www.certifiedpayrollreporting.com/clockshark

Autogenerate employee passwords
it would be easier if you could automatically have a password generated when you add a new employee. Then they would get an email with the password and would be allowed to change it on their first login to something they can easily remember.
17 votesWhen importing employees from QuickBooks Desktop, a password will be auto-generated for employees, and emailed to the employee.
Employees who are added manually to ClockShark will need to have a password manually created, but they too will receive an email with their login information. If they log into ClockShark from a desktop, they can customize their password to be something easier to remember. :)

In the web interface, make it so I can add a note to a job that's currently clocked in/in progress.
Web interface doesn't appear to allow me to add a note when I'm clocked in - I have to "switch" jobs (to the same job) and add the note during the switch process.
1 voteJT Abbott responded
Hey David, thank you so much for sharing your idea for others to comment and vote on.
That can be a little tricky because you can only really enter notes on clock in, switch, or clock out. I think it would be a great idea to just add a note field there to always use.

option to make photos madatory
option to make photos mandatory when clocking off from a job
1 voteJT Abbott responded
Hey Paul, thanks for sharing your idea and feedback with us!
We did just recently add Clock Out Questions as a feature which is similar. With this feature, you can require employees to answer a set of questions. This can be assigned to everyone, a specific department/location, or job. You can also be notified if a response is deemed as “unexpected.” This is great for verifying work safety, ensuring breaks are taken, retrieving the status of the job and more!
So while this wouldn’t require pictures to be attached, you could ask them “Did you attach pictures?”, or even have them describe the job.

Separate Time Format display for Time Sheets (web/mobile) and Reports
Have the ability to choose which time format to display on the Time Sheets online (web/mobile) and on the reports (Company Settings). Our QuickBooks uses time decimals for payroll, but employees want to see actual time in HH:MMs

Adding a job
Add a (+ Add Job) button on the schedule tab so we do not not need to jump between tabs.

Hey There, Tony! Thanks for the suggestion about adding jobs directly from the scheduler. That would certainly save time, instead of hopping between your different screens.
Let’s let folks vote w/ you on this idea, and we’ll look to add it to the product once it gathers enough support. We really appreciate your feedback, Tony!

Simple Suggestion - Change the terminology from "Breaks" to "Meals"
Federal Labor Law Terminology...
"Breaks" are paid.
"Meals Periods" are unpaid. In Clock Shark, the terminology is "Breaks" for unpaid time.
Simply change "Breaks" to "Meals" and the wording will make sense.

Hey There, Stan! Thanks for the suggestion about changing the language of “Breaks” to “Meals”, and for including a helpful link too. We’ll send this over to our development team so they can look at it; but per usual, we’ll also leave it open here so other users can vote with you on it.
